Bio

I was born and raised in Shiraz, the southwest of Iran. After finishing high school, I got admitted to the Shiraz University. During senior year I joined Prof. Mona Hosseini’s lab and worked on the C-P bond formations by using magnetic zinc oxide catalyst. Then, I moved to IASBS for completing my M.S. and since I am so much interested in both catalyst and green chemistry, I joined Prof. Gholinejad’s group. One of my projects was about using iron within clinochlore (a clay mineral support) as a co-catalyst for the palladium nanoparticles and reduce a wide variety of nitro aromatics by that. In this project we found a chance to collaborate with Prof. Bruce Lipshutz for the first time and this collaboration paved the way to join his group for the Ph.D. where I expect to work on green chemistry and catalyst more than before!

Fun Facts

When I am not in the lab, you can simply find me punching a boxing bag in a gym! Otherwise, I might be in running or cycling through the beautiful Santa Barbara.
My other hobbies are mostly hiking, listening to rock music, watching movies and playing video games!
